Ross Headquarters has an 8,000 gallon tank that is served by a new Preferred Utilities automatic fuel cleaning and water removal system. Ross has a 1,000 kw generator with a 600 gallon belly tank. The original installation was a code minimum installation but lacked important safety features:
- Leak detection on the double contained pipe
- Remote alarming of leak condition (generator is in a remote architectural enclosure)
- A return pump (no way to return fuel in original design)
- A method of automatically determining tank level and alarming upon low or high fuel
- Extended vents (above the belly tank level)
The original pipe was threaded and weeped. We replaced the piping with socket welded steel pipe. |
